The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales Charitable Trust was established in 1995, as the then Welsh Livery Guild Charitable Trust, to further the Company’s aims of advancing education, the relief of poverty and in particular the promotion of skills and professional and commercial development among the young people of Wales. The Trust is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Whilst the Trust is an independent body governed by the Trust Deed it has a working relationship with the Livery Company, operating in conjunction with the Company’s Charitable Events and Awards committees. The Worshipful Livery Company of Wales was founded in 1993, originally as the Welsh Livery Guild, with two purposes in mind, to nurture the talent and skills of young people in Wales, and fellowship.
From investments and donations the Trust helps to fund awards made by the Awards Committee who present over 40 awards involving some 60 recipients each year. The Company is dedicated to helping young people throughout Wales to develop their talents and skills by means of an annual programme of scholarships and bursaries to students in schools, universities and technical colleges, as well as to apprentices and young people in the Armed Forces. The Awards Committee now disburse annually about £40,000. There will always be many more worthy applicants than we are able to support. The Charitable Trust itself does not accept or process applications for awards.
