An Evening of Music with Ensemble Cymru

On 18 July 2018, Lord Davies of Abersoch and Lady Davies hosted a drinks reception at their home in Battersea, London, followed by the very first musical performance by Ensemble Cymru in London. The Master (a patron of the Ensemble), together with the Chairman of the Awards Committee, Madeleine Bidder and her husband Neil, represented WLCOW at the very successful and enjoyable event.

Welcoming the guests, which included a distinguished cross section of the Welsh community in London and no less a star than Bryn Terfel, Lord Davies celebrated the talents and accomplishment of Ensemble Cymru, Wales’ leading chamber music group, saying:
“These wonderful musicians have earned a stellar reputation in Wales, and have represented Wales in various parts of the world. But tonight they will be giving their first-ever performance in London”.

Ensemble Cymru, the orchestra which performed so beautifully for the Company on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee Concert held at the Senedd in Cardiff on 4 July, has the vision of bringing together the finest chamber musicians to share chamber music with communities in Wales and in doing so nurturing and celebrating music by Wales’ composers, past and present.
