During the Court meeting, Hugh Thomas, Dr Keith C. Williams and Keith Shankland were clothed as new Court Assistants.
The event was witnessed by Court members, Liverymen, guests, family and friends. Following Court, officers, liverymen and guests moved to St John the Baptist Church for an Installation Service where the address was given by The Reverend Professor Thomas Watkin. It was also the first service at St John’s for the new vicar, The Reverend Sarah Jones.
The final hymn was sung to the tune of Cwm Rhondda written by John Hughes, the Master’s great-uncle!
The Banquet which followed at City Hall was very well attended and honoured by the presence of HM Lord-Lieutenant of South Glamorgan, Mrs Morfudd Meredith and the Rt Hon The Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Dianne Rees.

We were also honoured by the presence of the Rt Hon Sir Gary Hickinbottom and Lady Hickinbottom.
Sir Gary, a Court of Appeal Judge, replied on behalf of the guests with an excellent speech including some humorous anecdotes which was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Musical entertainment was provided by Emily Harris, a harpist who is studying for an MA in Cardiff and is a previous award winner of the Company.
All in all, it was an excellent evening with good food, fellowship and fun!
